PRO-MULTILINGUA

Transfert of innovation in the field of professional, multilingual communication
LLP – Leonardo da Vinci – Transfer of Innovation

Objectives:

It is a great challenge for the new, extended Europe to create new instruments to pave the way for better comprehension and better knowledge of its languages and cultures. This can be interpreted in its broadest sense but at the same time also in the more narrow meaning of company languages and cultures. A better understanding of languages and cultures enables the development of economic and human exchanges.
PRO-MULTILINGUA, based on the international research results of Leomep (1998-2200), aims at the integration of the Romanian language in this multilingual and intercultural system of modules. These modules have been realized during the European projects Leomep-Multi (2000-2003) and Com-I-N-Europe. They have international communication for business executives as target group. The 29 Plurilingua TM modules, which form the basis of this project, were extensively extolled by the EU because of their goal-orientedness and are being supported by professional associations, employers' organizations, trainers and private companies.

The main characteristic of the PRO-MULTILINGUA-research partnership in applied linguistics distinguishes itself by the fact that the competence areas of each team are interdisciplinary and cover perfectly the areas concerned. Romanian will be added, as well as source language and culture and as target language and culture and this in combination with German and French. This will facilitate the interaction in the economic activities between Romania and European member states of the first generation, and more specifically the countries having French or German as one of the official languages (France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Great Duchy of Luxemburg).

The choice of French and German complies with the Romanian economic reality: the French-speaking and German-speaking investors have recently become cleary more interested in the Romanian market.
