CommArt International plc has made a distribution agreement with the research institute “Centre for Applied Linguistics” of the University Hasselt for the European distribution of nine multimedia e-learning modules for foreign languages-cultures for “full beginners”.

LINGU@COM is the result of the PPL project TST-ID (E-learning modules enhancing Intercultural Dialogue and integrating Speech and Language Technology)

TST-ID is a LLP project (Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Commission, Transversal Programme - Languages - selection 2007) with a duration of 2 years.

Objectives:

• To develop 9 interactive, contrastive and innovating learning methods in the blended learning concept. Five European languages and cultures, paired up in the following combinations, are at hand:
   

• To promote the study of new European languages and cultures, the multilinguism and the intercultural dialogue in Europe
• To offer learning modules with a maximum accessibility via an on-line learning environment and via CD-ROM integrating Text-to-Speech technology (to help users with visual impairments or reading disorders such as dyslexia)

Target group:

• adults wanting to learn the language because of professional (e.g. immigration), touristic, personal or family reasons, within the framework of a study or simply out of interest
• teachers of languages-cultures
