Dutch is popular in Romania. In June 2011, for the first time since the department was established, a group of master’s students graduated.
Since October 2009, the University of Bucharest has been offering the two-year Master’s programme Literary Translation (Dutch-Romanian, Romanian-Dutch). Six students completed this training by writing a dissertation.
The growing popularity is also visible at the start of the programme: in 2011-2012, 53 students opted for Dutch, which is offered as a B-language since this year.
